Closures needed for paving work; Motorists should expect potential delays

FAIRFAX, VA - Triple lane closures on eastbound Dulles Toll Road (DTR) approaching I-495 (the Capital Beltway) are scheduled to occur between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. starting on or about Sunday night, Aug. 17, and continuing for approximately six overnights, except Saturday, Aug. 24. Additionally, the ramp from eastbound DTR and Dulles Airport Access Highway (DAAH) to northbound I-495/Beltway Inner Loop will close during these overnights. This work is weather dependent, and will be pushed to the following overnight if necessary. Crews will be milling and paving this section of DTR and the ramp, as part of the I-495 Express Lanes Northern Extension (495 NEXT) project.

Ramp from westbound Dulles Toll Road to northbound I-495 also closed and detoured over weekend; 495 NEXT crews completing ramp reconstruction work

FAIRFAX, VA - Starting at 10 p.m., Friday, August 8 and continuing until as late as 5 a.m., Monday, August 11, the right lane will be closed on northbound I-495 in Virginia for approximately one-quarter mile from the merge point at Exit 18 (eastbound Dulles Toll Road/Dulles Airport Access Highway to northbound I-495, mile marker 45.4) to near the Lewinsville Road Bridge in McLean. Three lanes will remain open on this stretch of I-495 (the Beltway Inner Loop).

Overnight closure and detour of ramps from southbound and northbound I-495 to GW Parkway planned for night of July 30 to set up work area

Fairfax, VA - On or about Wednesday night, July 30, crews are scheduled to implement temporary traffic changes on the existing ramp from northbound I-495 (Capital Beltway Inner Loop) to southbound George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP) Exit 43 to begin ramp extension work, as part of the I-495 Express Lanes Northern Extension (495 NEXT) project. By as early as Thursday morning, July 31, the ramp will be temporarily shifted and narrowed to one lane through the merge point from the Beltway to GWMP. This narrowed-down ramp configuration and merge area is expected to be in place until about mid-September to accommodate ramp construction and keep drivers and workers safe.
