495 Express Lanes Extension’s bicycle and pedestrian trail planned to open June 27

Project partners to host community “4.95K Fun Run” event on opening day to highlight new multimodal infrastructure mobility connections in McLean

MCLEAN, VA - The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and Transurban, the Commonwealth’s private partner and operator of the 495 Express Lanes, today announced that a new shared-use bicycle and pedestrian trail—one of the final multimodal features of the 495 Express Lanes Northern Extension (495 NEXT) project—is scheduled to open to the public on Saturday, June 27.

Nightly ramp closures at I-495 and George Washington Memorial Parkway, Georgetown Pike and Dulles Toll Road interchanges scheduled for May 12-14

Single lane closure on WB Dulles Toll Road between Route 123 and I-495 also planned

FAIRFAX, VA - Beginning on or about tonight, Tuesday, May 12, through Thursday night, May 14, ramps to and from I-495 (Capital Beltway) at George Washington Memorial Parkway, Georgetown Pike and Dulles Toll Road (Route 267) will be closed and detoured for 495 NEXT crews to perform bridge and paving work. Ramp closures will occur from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, weather permitting. Drivers should use caution and follow posted detours.

Overnight ramp closures and detours at I-495 and Dulles Toll Road interchange scheduled Sun., May 3 and Mon., May 4

Single lane closure on WB Dulles Toll Road between Route 123 and I-495 also planned

FAIRFAX, VA - Ramp closures and detours are planned at the I-495 and Dulles Toll Road (Route 267) interchange Sunday night, May 3, and Monday night, May 4. These closures are necessary to accommodate paving operations as part of the 495 NEXT project. In the event of inclement weather or other delays, this work will be rescheduled for the following night.
