FAIRFAX, VA - Beginning Tuesday, Jan. 21 and continuing through Thursday, Jan. 23, there will be overnight lane closures and periodic total traffic stoppages in both directions on Georgetown Pike near the I-495 interchange between Balls Hill Road and Linganore Drive. Lane closures will occur between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following morning, with periodic traffic stoppages of up to 30 minutes each between midnight and 5 a.m.

Weekend-long travel impacts on Beltway near Tysons and at I-495/Dulles Corridor interchange; motorists urged to plan ahead and stay away
FAIRFAX, VA - Crews are preparing to install five lines of massive steel girders extending 295-feet in length across northbound I-495 (Capital Beltway) for a new express lanes ramp that will connect the Dulles Toll Road to northbound I-495. This major bridge girder operation - the Big Beam Weekend - is scheduled to occur Friday night, January 24 through early Monday morning, January 27, and will impact travel significantly on northbound I-495 near Tysons and at the I-495 and Dulles Corridor interchange area. Motorists are urged to STAY AWAY throughout the weekend as northbound I-495 will be reduced from six to two lanes near Tysons, and multiple ramps at the I-495 and Dulles Corridor interchange will be closed and detoured. In the event of inclement weather, the Big Beam Weekend will be rescheduled for the following weekend, Jan. 31 through Feb. 3.

Closures needed for roadway striping work
UPDATE (Dec.27, 2024): The below lane closures, ramp closure and detour has been postponed to Monday night, Dec. 30 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.
FAIRFAX, VA - Triple lane closures will be in place on northbound I-495 near Tysons during overnight hours tonight, Friday, Dec. 20. In addition, the on-ramp from the westbound Dulles Toll Road (Route 267) to northbound I-495 (Capital Beltway Inner Loop) will be closed. Closures are necessary to allow crews to shift traffic and complete roadway striping work, and will begin at 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20 until 5 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21.
