Overnight Ramp Closures & Detours From George Washington Parkway to Southbound I-495 and Georgetown Pike in McLean Scheduled to Begin July 10

Motorists traveling on northbound GW Parkway are asked to follow signed detour across American Legion Bridge to loop back into Virginia

FAIRFAX, VA - The on-ramp from northbound George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP) to southbound I-495 (Capital Beltway Outer Loop) and the slip-ramp from GWMP to Georgetown Pike are scheduled to be closed on Thursday night, July 10, and Friday night, July 11. Closures and detours will occur nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning for 495 NEXT crews to install new noise wall panels and conduct trenching work. Saturday night, July 12, and Monday night, July 14, will serve as backup dates in case of inclement weather or other delays.

Overnight Paving Scheduled Tonight on Southbound I-495 in McLean Area Expected to Extend Until Noon Friday 6/27

Single lane to remain closed on southbound Beltway from 5 a.m. through noon; Overnight Beltway traffic shift remains on schedule for Friday night

MCLEAN, VA - Overnight paving work on southbound I-495 (Capital Beltway Outer Loop) in the Tysons-McLean area, already scheduled for tonight, Thursday, June 26, is planned to continue through Friday (June 27) morning peak period and until approximately noon. Multiple lanes will be closed in both directions of this section of the Beltway beginning at 9:30 p.m. tonight until 5 a.m. Friday morning. A single right lane will remain closed tomorrow in the southbound direction only from about 5 a.m. until as late as noon. Drivers traveling in this area should expect possible delays and plan extra travel time for their morning commute tomorrow.

Southbound I-495/Capital Beltway Outer Loop Traffic Shift in Tysons-McLean Area Scheduled Friday Night, June 27

Multi-lane closures and stoppages on Beltway and ramp closures/detours will be in place to implement shift

MCLEAN, VA - On or about this Friday night, June 27, crews plan to implement the first of two traffic shifts of all four lanes on southbound I-495 (Beltway Outer Loop) within the I-495 Express Lanes Northern Extension (495 NEXT) project area. This first phase will shift southbound I-495 lanes from just north of George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP) to just south of Georgetown Pike onto newly constructed lanes on the outer section of the highway. Work will begin Friday night, with all southbound lanes in this section of the Beltway reopened in their new alignment by 10 a.m. Saturday morning, June 28. Saturday and Sunday nights will serve as backup dates in case of inclement weather or other work delays.
