New configuration to improve merging on and off the Beltway in this area
FAIRFAX, VA - On or about Thursday night, May 1, southbound I-495 (Capital Beltway Outer Loop) traffic traveling on the Exit 44 collector road to Georgetown Pike is scheduled to be shifted onto a new ramp alignment. The new ramp alignment is located on the outer edge of the Beltway and runs parallel to southbound I-495 between George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP) and Georgetown Pike. Following the traffic shift, southbound I-495 Exit 44 collector road traffic will enter the new ramp alignment just after Exit 43 for GWMP, and will exit left to access Georgetown Pike (Exit 44).

Motorists should stay alert and follow posted detours
FAIRFAX, VA - Beginning tonight, Monday, April 28, and continuing nightly through Friday, May 2, multiple ramps to and from northbound I-495 (Capital Beltway Inner Loop) at the George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP) and Georgetown Pike interchanges will be closed for 495 NEXT crews to perform paving and striping work in preparation for a traffic shift planned for Friday night, May 2. The following ramps will be closed and detoured from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, April 28 through May 2: northbound I-495 to southeast GWMP (Exit 43), northbound I-495 to Georgetown Pike (Exit 44), and Georgetown Pike to northbound I-495.

Work crews to perform overhead sign repairs
MCLEAN, VA - Triple lane closures are planned on southbound I-495 (Beltway Outer Loop) between Georgetown Pike (Exit 44) and Old Dominion Drive in McLean from 11 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, April 22 until as late as 5 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, April 23, for overhead sign repair work. One southbound lane will remain open in this area of the Beltway, except when intermittent traffic stoppages of up to 30-minutes each, occur between Midnight and 5 a.m. Beltway drivers traveling from Maryland to Virginia over the American Legion Bridge should expect delays and use alternate routes.
