Closures required for paving work and noise wall installation for 495 NEXT project; Motorists asked to follow signed detour across American Legion Bridge to loop back into Virginia

FAIRFAX, VA - Beginning on or about Sunday night, Oct. 19, and continuing nightly through Saturday, Oct. 25, the ramp from northbound George Washington Memorial Parkway to southbound I-495 (Capital Beltway Outer Loop) will be closed for paving and noise wall panel installation as part of the 495 NEXT project. This ramp closure and detour is scheduled to occur nightly, Sunday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Friday night from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m., and Saturday night from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. The exit from southbound I-495 to Georgetown Pike (Exit 44) will also be closed during this same period and hours for paving.

Closures planned Thursday night, Oct. 16 through Friday morning, Oct. 17; Drivers urged to stay away to avoid potential backups and delays

FAIRFAX, VA - On or about tonight, Thursday, Oct. 16 at 8:30 p.m. until 5 a.m., Friday, Oct. 17, multi-lane closures and a brief traffic stoppage will be in place on southbound I-495 (Capital Beltway Outer Loop) near the George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP) interchange. These closures are necessary for 495 NEXT crews to finish shifting the general purpose lanes on southbound I-495 into their final alignment for the project and reopen right-hand shoulders in the area.

Closures begin Friday night, Oct. 3 through Sunday morning, Oct. 5; Drivers urged to stay away to avoid potential backups and delays

FAIRFAX, VA - Beginning on or about Friday night, Oct. 3 at 9 p.m., and continuing until approximately 9 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 5, lane and ramp closures will be in place on southbound I-495 (Capital Beltway Outer Loop) between the American Legion Memorial Bridge and Lewinsville Road in McLean. Multi-lane closures and ramp closures with detours will occur on Friday and Saturday nights, and a single lane closure is planned to be in place all day on Saturday. Drivers traveling from Maryland over the American Legion Bridge into Virginia should expect potential delays and allow extra travel time.
