Closures planned Thursday night, Oct. 16 through Friday morning, Oct. 17; Drivers urged to stay away to avoid potential backups and delays

FAIRFAX, VA - On or about tonight, Thursday, Oct. 16 at 8:30 p.m. until 5 a.m., Friday, Oct. 17, multi-lane closures and a brief traffic stoppage will be in place on southbound I-495 (Capital Beltway Outer Loop) near the George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP) interchange. These closures are necessary for 495 NEXT crews to finish shifting the general purpose lanes on southbound I-495 into their final alignment for the project and reopen right-hand shoulders in the area.

Closures begin Friday night, Oct. 3 through Sunday morning, Oct. 5; Drivers urged to stay away to avoid potential backups and delays

FAIRFAX, VA - Beginning on or about Friday night, Oct. 3 at 9 p.m., and continuing until approximately 9 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 5, lane and ramp closures will be in place on southbound I-495 (Capital Beltway Outer Loop) between the American Legion Memorial Bridge and Lewinsville Road in McLean. Multi-lane closures and ramp closures with detours will occur on Friday and Saturday nights, and a single lane closure is planned to be in place all day on Saturday. Drivers traveling from Maryland over the American Legion Bridge into Virginia should expect potential delays and allow extra travel time.

Daytime extended hours flagging operations needed for pavement work as part of the I-495 Express Lanes Northern Extension project

FAIRFAX, VA - Drivers are advised that flagging operations are scheduled to be in effect on Old Dominion Drive near I-495 (Capital Beltway) from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, beginning Thursday, Oct. 2 through Friday, Oct. 24. Flagging operations are needed for crews to perform milling and paving work on Old Dominion Drive and to complete the driveway connection at Old Dominion Drive and Dominion Court. When construction is active, flaggers will direct one-way traffic in alternating directions on Old Dominion Drive between Old Gate Court and Dulany Drive.
